January 1st - Janathon Day 1.

I have been really looking forward to this since I signed up... is that weird? No matter, hoping to keep up my motivation for the next 30 days!

Today I did 6 miles of a lovely hilly run. I say lovely, but the loveliness (I will be honest) was more the final 1 mile downhill after a an icy plod uphill, for te first 5 miles. But thats what makes it feel good, right? Knowing that you are out there and doing something, achieving something rather than sitting indoors doing nothing. Well it is for me anyway.

Lumphanan 10k detox tomorrow. Hoping to get a PB. I have been hovering aroung the 55min mark for a 10k ever since I first did one back in 2010. I had time off with my little boy so not beating myself up about it, especially as I have never really focussed on improving my time for that distance, but now things are changing! My husband has recently started running. While I was focussed on our newborn son, Mr Claire was getting 'encouraged' into running. He did his first 5k last April, and is now running half marathons and is signed up to full marathon (not that I am a pushy wife I might add...) However since my initial jolt into the world of running Mr Claire is very much focussed on getting times down. He is now my motivator, I work on getting the big miles, and he concentrates on speed.... So fingers crossed the 54 mins that I broke at the last 10k will be beaten tomorrow. And if not, who cares, its the taking part, right?
